Clients have included the California State PTA, the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth and Their Families, the National Campaign Against Youth Violence, the Public Health Institute, March of Dimes, and Safety First, a project of the Drug Policy Alliance. Responsible for all design products of the firm — web, print, identity, collateral, promotion. Highlights include the design of an award-winning 435-page reference manual, and the blitz creation of an identity system and website for Safety First to help them secure a strategic partnership with the PTA.

Was able to provide design and direction services in a telecommuting role — most of the team was in Virginia while I worked from California. Freelance designers under my direction were scattered across the country.

Responsible for all aspects of planning, design, production, management, client services, and back office for startup multimedia special-effects studio. Generated revenue from inception, growing the business by word-of-mouth to second year sales exceeding $250,000. Redesigned huge Discovery Channel School website, which helped to increase page views 221% over previous year levels.

Designed, engineered and produced functional, elegant, and appropriate websites and banner ads for Utopia’s clients including Sun Microsystems and Crestar Bank. Produced a prototype online image browser in Macromedia Director for a digital stock photo archive. Provided extensive Photoshop color correcting and retouching work for several in-house print brochures. Arranged and authored multimedia sales presentations.

CD Production Engineer
Designed screens and interface components for CD-ROM magazine using Photoshop, Painter, Quark XPress, and Apple Media Tool. Authored and optimized entire title. Managed all CD media assets. Developed video and written content. Esprit is an annual publication produced entirely by students in a multi-disciplinary environment at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The ambitious 1994 edition of Esprit was the first volume to include a non-print component.
